Stone of the Sky

I often said you were the moon From my threshold I would look on and swoon I would admire the way you controlled the tides How my heartbeat would rise and fall in stride With the light that you cast on the sand And my fingers would dance in it as my hand Traced the translucent essence of you All around me, cast in a shadow of blue moon But it wasn’t a shadow at all you see You lit up everything around me And you bathed me in an all too familiar glow Something I have always longed for and that I know Could save me, and destroy me still And it’s a pain I know all too well.
