Faller
Spent his youth on a farm in Washington
The only boy in a yard full of hens
And he made it through the droughts
and the great depression
and when the bombs rained down
he was a man on a mission
The Navy earned themselves a boy
And he felt himself a man
And he earned himself a spot in a cockpit
He was ready to take a stand
But life doesn't always work out the way you planned
Now he's a mountain man
With an axe in his hand
And he stands just as tall as the pine trees
That he falls in the summer heat
He's a pioneer, he's a father
He's a legend, he's a logger, he's a
Willamette Valley faller
He had a chance with a ball and a glove
Standing behind a plate when he first fell in love
He gave up his dream for his country
But the war ended before he ever left the runway
And so he came home to start a family
Still daydreamin about what his life could be
Now he's a mountain man
With an axe in his hand
And he stands just as tall as the pine trees
That he falls in the summer heat
He's a pioneer, he's a father
He's a legend, he's a logger, he's a
Willamette Valley faller
He grew old and he learned
That everything you get in life is earned
And he worked the mountain, he flew the planes
He sowed the seeds and he endured the rain
Carried his family and friends in his heart
And nothing could ever tear a stubborn man apart
But even time the strongest man cannot beat
You just consider yourself lucky if you got to meet
The man that stands as tall and strong as
The old pine trees
And just know he will always be
A mountain man
With an axe in his hand
And he's out there among the tall pine trees
From the rain to the summer heat
He's a pioneer, he's a logger
He's a legend, but most of all, he was my father
