Hello again, The doubt comes creeping in The ramblings of my inner most mind Like radio static softly playing behind Every day and every word you say I hear it whispering to me, I feel it's breath on my cheek And I turn the radio dials all the way up Until all the sound is drowned out and I'm stuck In a memory Where I can breathe Without the weight Of the hate That I feel in my heart For the love that I start To feel all over again. That's the thing about a radio Though, You can't go back and play the same song again Once it ends. So I took the boom box from above my head And I set it down on the lawn, the dead Grass beneath my feet from waiting for so long For playing every stupid song Hoping that you would hear That I'm still down here In rain, in cold, in blistering heatFacing the scrutiny Of all our friends, some I've lost Paying the cost, The dues Of loving someone like you And if you ever get annoyed at the sound Of the ster...

Faller

Spent his youth on a farm in Washington The only boy in a yard full of hens And he made it through the droughts and the great depression and when the bombs rained down he was a man on a mission The Navy earned themselves a boy And he felt himself a man And he earned himself a spot in a cockpit He was ready to take a stand But life doesn't always work out the way you planned Now he's a mountain man With an axe in his hand And he stands just as tall as the pine trees That he falls in the summer heat He's a pioneer, he's a father He's a legend, he's a logger, he's a Willamette Valley faller He had a chance with a ball and a glove Standing behind a plate when he first fell in love He gave up his dream for his country But the war ended before he ever left the runway And so he came home to start a family Still daydreamin about what his life could be Now he's a mountain man With an axe in his hand And he stands just as tall as the...

Blown Kisses

I threw a kiss out into the wind and it landed upon your cheek

Stone of the Sky

I often said you were the moon From my threshold I would look on and swoon I would admire the way you controlled the tides How my heartbeat would rise and fall in stride With the light that you cast on the sand And my fingers would dance in it as my hand Traced the translucent essence of you All around me, cast in a shadow of blue moon But it wasn’t a shadow at all you see You lit up everything around me And you bathed me in an all too familiar glow Something I have always longed for and that I know Could save me, and destroy me still And it’s a pain I know all too well. L    O        V            E And while I lifted you up into the sky I realized That I was the darkness around you And every night I held you up anew Retreating into the black abyss that I called home To make you shine that much brighter, my stone   ...

Traveling Hands

Her eyes are elsewhere And all I wanna do is go there Wherever she wanders to To see through the eyes that she sees through To have seen what she has seen A world through eyes shaded green She tells her stories with constant laughter Teasing at her life, hoping that after She is done nobody will question The ever-following acsencion Of pain rising to the surface, she chokes it down Along with tears and years of perfecting the sound Of making it seem like she is perfectly okay But there will always be words she couldn't say A smile that has been stolen away And one tear too many that have been shed in her wake And once you've been brought to your knees that many times, each time is harder to stand We can't finish a movie, and she blames my traveling hands But her soul is a map of emotions near and far And my hands are just a compass searching for her heart That always seems so guarded at times, and others so open Waiting to be the finger around which the...

Patchwork Glass

Her mouth twists when she says okay When I look at her she smiles and looks away And even when she is still, her fingers start to play Intstruments and melodies that no one else can see And I watch as her fingers hypnotize me Dancing around, her fidgeting composing a symphony Of twisted ribs that stick out too far Her heart wild in its cage that has bent and warped the bars That contain it. This is what I believe. A jaded past Of patchwork glass She fills the silence with anything she can With music that disguises how far across this country she has ran To escape a future that she may ave followed blindly Without the guidance of voices in perfect harmony With who she was and who she wanted to be And she says she is intrigued by me But honestly I have never seen someone's eyes burn so brightly With the possibilities of what could be She is strange She is terrifying She is beautiful. She is absolutely everything that a woman should be.

The Catch on Casted Line

I have admired you from nearby, always just a glance away And yet it seemed there was an ocean between us, a steep wave Could make you lose sight of me, and I you And you would be swept carefully away by new horizons, by old things brought anew And the things I thought I once new about your soul Were just pieces of respect, now joined with lack thereof, all things made whole An image of you that I had not wished to see A resentment, a pain that I thought I had cast away into the arms of the sea So long ago, I remembered a time when I would have preferred to drown To slip beneath the waves and listen to the sound Of darkness closing in on me As steady as the slowing of a heartbeat That once gave me life, gave me breath Could just as well be the very thing to give me death And now I know why they say it is a curse to feel everything so deeply For my heart is as vast as the ocean itself, and I fear it’s just as empty And I can sail my ...
