child of the sun.

Sometimes I think about you as a little girl
Wide eyes full of wonder looking at the world
Wild and free
Throwing sparks
In the dark
Borne from pools of sapphire
Catching star fire
Clutching to it
Holding it close to your chest
begging that you can keep it
These shooting stars you’ve caught
In a metal bucket
This light that you’ve brought
To everyone
You hold it in the palm of your hands
Whether a spark, a flame, or the sun itself
You shine but never burn
You are warmth and hues of gold
Bright and bold
I imagine that you would romp and play
That you would run and chase
The light from which you came
And that’s how I know you’ll be okay
That’s how I know you’ll stay
In the glow
Of your own radiance
And have all you’ll ever need from it
And feel secure in it
With stubborn persistence
And child like innocence
You will never be far
From who you are
