Just a Word

She puts her clothes back on
And she smirks when she does
Because she just wants
Someone
To keep her out of her own head
And I was laying in her bed
When I first saw it
When I saw her get
Caught up in it
And the next time I told her
As she smiled over her shoulder
To leave her clothes off
And it was simple, but just enough
To bring her back to me, naked
And emboldened
Every day I learn a little more
And little by little I adore
Her even more than just minutes before
And I’m watching her spread her wings
And feel free
As she whispers “don’t let me”
I want to be the breath on her skin
I want to take it all in
Her kisses, her touch
Because I want it all so much
And I just want her to stay
In bed with me all day
So I can kiss her sweetly
So I can keep her completely
She has me in the palm of her hands
And I have no plans
Except to be present
In every simple little moment
That brings my world to a halt
For I am in constant awe
Of the things she thinks are flawed
Because perfection was only a word
Until I heard
Her singing, laughing
Until I saw her smiling
And I am still reeling
Because she is still stealing
My heart.
