Dreamcatcher
Her eyes meet mine in the crowd
And I feel myself grow heavy
My blood turns to lead
And all I can hear are the drums
Beating in her chest and mine
And then she moves through
Seas of people
She makes her way to my side
And she touches me as if by accident
But then she looks up at me with those eyes
Her mouth lifts in the corner
And a partial smile finds her lips
It’s subtle enough that nobody notices
Maybe it was meant for me
But there’s something else there too
And I wish I was a dreamcatcher
But I wish I could catch her thoughts
In my fingers instead
Hang it on the wall
Above my bed
So I can know what’s going on in her head.
Oh where do her eyes wander?
What her mind must wonder...
I wish I had answers to the questions
That shes yet to ask
I wish her voice would fill the space
Around me
That I could close my eyes
Just let her sing
Until every little thing
That we thought mattered
Faded away into nothing.
