Flannel Jacket

This warm spring air
Is draped around me like a jacket
I love to wear
The birds are singing
I’m content
My ears are ringing
From blaring my stereo
From bobbing my head back and forth
And I’m listening to the radio
Cruising around
My hand out the window
I’m a queen of this town
When I taste freedom
Hot and sweet
My lips are numb
In the best way
From smiling so hard
From singing all day
And I’m laying back on the pavement
My heart beat steady
My feet on this cement
Bees buzz in swarms
Flowers are blooming
And I hope these clouds bring storms
That will wash me clean
Of all the things I’ve been holding in
And I can’t wait for you to be part of this scene
To see me rustic and endearing
In a flannel jacket
By a campfire in the swing
Of summer
And my love will feel
Like a whisper
Like wind moving through your clothes
I’ll wrap these arms around you
In the sunset glow
Won’t you come with me?
